BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Tourism Development Department under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism reminded the public to engage with licensed travel agents only when booking tickets, holiday packages or pilgrimage services such as haj and umrah.

The department, which regulates travel agencies under the Tourism Act (Chapter 239), warned that operating as an unlicensed travel agent is illegal. Offenders could face a fine of up to BND10,000 (US$744), imprisonment for up to two years, or both.
