Sultan of Brunei leaves hospital following successful knee surgery

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on Wednesday (Jan 21) left Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) after successfully undergoing a right total knee replacement surgery.

The surgery was performed on Sunday (Jan 18).

Accompanying the Ruler was Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Mohamed Alam, along with members of the royal family.

Prior to the monarch’s departure, a Doa Selamat was recited by the State Mufti Datuk Paduka Seri Setia Dr Ustaz Awang Abdul Aziz Juned.

Also present to bid farewell were Cabinet Ministers and Deputy Ministers.

Sultan Hassanal conveyed deepest gratitude to the people and residents of Brunei Darussalam, both at home and abroad, including students and members of the international community, who offered prayers for His Majesty’s swift recovery, continued good health, and lasting well-being.

The monarch also expressed sincere appreciation for the messages of goodwill and well-wishes received from Heads of State and Government, as well as members of Royal Families, throughout the period of his treatment.

In addition, the Ruler thanked the medical experts, officers, and personnel of Jerudong Park Medical Centre for the excellent care and treatment provided during his stay. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
