BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Ministry of Defence has urged the public not to be alarmed by increased military activity as the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF) conducts Exercise Semangat Waja Series 08/2026 from Jan 21 to Jan 30.

The nationwide exercise will take place at selected locations across the Brunei-Muara, Temburong, Tutong and Belait districts, and will involve heightened movement of military personnel and assets through land, air and riverine routes.

In a statement, the ministry said the exercise is part of routine defence preparedness and training, and advised the public to remain calm throughout its duration.

Road and river users affected by the exercise are encouraged to use alternative routes to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety. Members of the public are also strictly prohibited from approaching or entering designated exercise areas to avoid any unwanted incidents.

The ministry further reminded the public that taking photographs or videos of the exercise, as well as sharing such materials on social media platforms, is not permitted, as it could compromise the confidentiality and integrity of the operations.

The dissemination of unverified or false information related to the exercise is an offence under Section 34 of the Public Order Act, Chapter 148, which carries legal consequences.

The Ministry of Defence expressed its appreciation for the public’s cooperation and support in ensuring the safe and successful conduct of the exercise. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
