KATHMANDU: A Saurya Airlines plane has crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu.

The crash occurred while the flight was taking off for Pokhara from Kathmandu, reported the Himalayan Times.

The plane was only carrying technical staff of the airline, and no commercial passengers were on board the plane, said Gyanendra Bhul, information officer at the TIA.

Smoke was seen coming from the plane, and firefighters and security personnel are currently trying to control the situation.
