KRATIE, Cambodia: Cambodia on Tuesday (March 26) declared northeastern Kratie province clear of landmines and explosive remnants of war (ERWs), making it the 15th mine-free province in the South-East Asian country.
Ly Thuch, senior minister and first vice president of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), said Kratie was a former major battlefield and that the mine clearance operations in the province began in 2003, clearing over 133sq km land contaminated with mine and ERWs.
