Brunei aims to go all out in achieving its fully developed status through the Vision 2035 programmes, says LegCo members

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei's Legislative Council (LegCo) members are sparing no efforts to ensure the success of its Vision 2035 programme mooted by the king, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

Wawasan Brunei 2035 or Brunei Vision 2035 aims to turn Brunei Darussalam into a nation widely recognised for: the accomplishments of its well educated and highly-skilled people as measured by the highest international standard; quality of life that is among the top 10 nations in the world; and dynamic and sustainable economy with income per capita within the top countries in the world.

"All LegCo members are fully committed to the vision," said Special Advisor to His Majesty and Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Laila Utama Awang Isa Awang Ibrahim at the 20th session of the LegCo meeting.

"The participation of Legislative Council (LegCo) members in delivering ideas and suggestions underscored a collective effort to support His Majesty's vision."

In his adjournment speech, he said the suggestions from LegCo members represented the Sultanate’s citizens and will act as references, allowing the government to formulate and implement polices, strategies and initiatives that contribute to socio-economic development.

He also noted that it is crucial for the needs and expectations of stakeholders and citizens to be met with hopes to heighten public confidence in the government’s efforts.

He said the new national budget will focus on efforts to enhance the quality of life among the people through infrastructural development, economic growth and diversification with the aim of reducing dependency on oil and gas, while having an education system capable of producing a skilled workforce. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
