BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: With consent of Sultan Hassanal, approximately BND1.3 million from the 2023 Humanitarian Fund for Palestinians in Gaza has been allocated to provide crucial aid to Palestine through an “air-drop” operation.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued on Thursday (March 14), the allocated funds amount to USD1,050,000.00 (estimated at BND1,399,545.00).

The aid consists of ready-to-eat meal packages that are long-lasting, totalling 5,920 packages. Each food package contains breakfast, lunch, and dinner for one person.

Brunei Darussalam executed the first delivery on March 13, 2024, comprising two “air-drop” operations using Jordanian military aircraft.

The drops were targeted at the northern coastal areas of Gaza, where thousands of Palestinians are stranded. The handover event took place at the King Abdullah II Air Base and was attended by representatives from the Brunei Embassy in Amman, Jordan, and the Jordanian government.

Meanwhile, the implementation of two additional ‘air-drops’ is scheduled separately on the afternoons of March 14, 2024, and March 15, 2024, at the same location. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
