It's a big favourite for food lovers as Malaysian Laksa Festival takes off in a grand way in Brunei

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Laksa has become a symbol of Malaysia’s diverse blend of cultures, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam Datuk Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah said.

“Be it at a fancy hotel buffet or a roadside stall, laksa is one of the homeliest dishes you can find in every corner in Malaysia,” he said during the Malaysia Laksa Festival at The Rizqun Coffee House in Brunei's capital.

The festival, first of its kind in the Sultanate, features five types of authentic Malaysian laksa and a live cooking demonstration for two of the dishes – laksa Kelantan and laksa Sarawak.

“Through this festival, we aim to introduce and showcase to our friends in Brunei the variety of Malaysian laksas, as well as indulge in the unique experience of gastronomic and step out of your comfort zone.

"This is also part of the cultural diplomacy efforts under Malaysia’s Foreign Policy Framework in promoting Malaysian food and culture to the world,“ said Raja Reza.

Deputy Minister (Civil Service Governance) at the Prime Minister’s Office Datuk Seri Paduka Mohd Riza Mohd Yunos, spouse of the Governor of Sabah Toh Puan Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr) Norlidah Tan Sri Datuk R M Jasni, Cabinet minister’s spouses, Legislative Council members and members of the Diplomatic Corps were also present. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
