Fossil fuel demand to peak this decade, says IEA chief


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Agencies): World demand for oil, gas and coal is expected to peak this decade, the head of the International Energy Agency wrote in the Financial Times on Tuesday.

"The world is on the cusp of a historic turning point," IEA executive director Fatih Birol wrote, saying his agency's latest projections show that "this age of seemingly relentless growth is set to come to an end this decade".
