Four foreigners detained in Brunei immigration raids

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Department of Immigration and National Registration (JIPK) carried out two enforcement operations under Operasi Kakas 2026, targeting several locations across the country in an ongoing effort to curb immigration offences.

Under Operasi Kakas 53/2026, enforcement officers inspected rental houses in Mukim Berakas ‘B’. Seven foreign nationals were checked during the operation, with three individuals detained and brought to the Law Enforcement Division for further investigation.

The department said the individuals were believed to have committed offences under Section 15(1) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17 for overstaying in the country, as well as under Regulation 15(2) of the Immigration Regulations, Chapter 17 for not working with their original employer.

Meanwhile, Operasi Kakas 54/2026 focused on fruit and vegetable farms in Mukim Liang. One foreign national was detained for allegedly violating Regulation 15(2) of the Immigration Regulations, Chapter 17 for not working with the original employer stated in the employment pass. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
