BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Public Works Department (JKR) announced several traffic and infrastructure updates affecting motorists and residents in the Brunei-Muara District, including the completion of urgent pipe repair works, the installation of a new traffic light in Lambak Kanan and temporary road closures for resurfacing works.

JKR confirmed that urgent pipe repair works at the entrance junction leading to the Higher Hotel along Jalan Komersial Kiulap were completed on Monday (May 19).

In a public notice, the department said water supply in affected areas would resume gradually, although full recovery may take time. Homes using water filtration systems have also been advised to flush their systems before using or consuming water.

Residents in higher elevated areas may continue to experience low water pressure temporarily. Members of the public requiring assistance or water tanker services may contact the Darussalam Hotline 123.

Meanwhile, JKR also announced that a newly installed traffic light at the Jalan 11 and Jalan 10 Selatan junction in Perumahan Negara Lambak Kanan will begin operations at 9am on Thursday (May 21).

Road users travelling through the area have been urged to exercise caution, observe the speed limit and comply with all traffic signs installed at the junction.

According to the announcement, the installation works have been completed and the traffic light is intended to improve traffic flow and road safety in the residential area. A location map released by JKR identified the junction near the Lambak Kanan area and nearby commercial developments.

Separately, temporary lane closures will also be implemented at several locations to facilitate asphalt resurfacing works.

JKR said a temporary half-lane closure will take place along Jalan Estet Gadong near the J109 traffic light junction with the Tungku Highway from May 19 to May 26 between 10pm and 4am, subject to weather conditions.

Motorists have been reminded to remain vigilant while passing through the affected stretch and to adhere to traffic instructions and speed limits throughout the duration of the works.

In another notice, JKR said Jalan Pengiran Babu Raja will undergo a temporary full road closure beginning May 21 from 11pm to 4am daily until resurfacing works are completed.

Alternative routes have been prepared for motorists during the closure period, with road users advised to follow directional signage placed around the affected area.

JKR advised the public to remain cautious and plan their journeys accordingly as the department continues infrastructure improvement and maintenance works across the district. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
