Toyota to invest US$1.8 billion in Indonesia to make electric vehicles


JAKARTA, Juy 30 (dpa): Japanese carmaker Toyota plans to invest US$1.8 billion in Indonesia in the next five years to make the country a regional manufacturing hub for its electric vehicles, an Indonesian government official had announced.

Vice Chairperson Shigeru Hayakawa made the commitment in a Tuesday meeting with an Indonesian ministerial delegation in Tokyo, said Indonesia's chief economics minister Airlangga Hartarto.
