BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May 1 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Contact tracing is only one of the many functions of the BruHealth app as it is also an application that enables the public to check their health status.

Brunei Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Mohd Isham Jaafar said this during a press conference yesterday, in response to a query on whether Brunei will follow Singapore and Malaysia in removing the requirement to scan for Covid-19 contact tracing via TraceTogether and MySejahtera.

Dr Mohd Isham said BruHealth is not only used for contact tracing; the app will incorporate a queue system for automatic registration at clinics.

He added that the expansion plan is still in the discussion stage.

The minister said individuals can also obtain their health records from the app, such as medication, blood test results and appointments, as well as teleconsultation.

“It is on-going, but in a small way. There are teleconsultation slots on the BruHealth app enabling individuals to carry out consultation via video call with professionals at the hospital,” he said.

For Brunei, Dr Mohd Isham said BruHealth will be further expanded as it is one of the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) as well as the government’s plans to ensure that people are more aware about their own health, to ease appointment bookings, and take note of health results that will remind individuals to monitor themselves, especially in terms of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Apart from appointments, and from the aspects of the ministry and administration, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said the MoH will be able to see and collect data to plan how it can identify types of NCDs that need to be given more attention to control its condition in Brunei. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
