More than 8,700 Covid-19 cases reported in Vietnam

HANOI (Vietnam News/Asia News Network): Vietnam registered 8,744 Covid-19 patients on Wednesday (Feb 2), the lowest daily caseload since mid-November last year.

The total number of infections nationwide since the start of the pandemic is now 2,295,494.

Among the new transmissions, there were 5,057 detected in the community and 22 imported cases that were quarantined upon arrival.

The capital city of Hanoi still topped the list with 2,716 cases followed by Danang and Thanh Hoá with 778 and 253, respectively.

The Ministry of Health also reported that 2,735 patients nationwide were in critical condition, with 374 requiring invasive ventilation and 14 on life support.

A further 6,795 patients were given the all-clear on Wednesday, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,068,853.

More than 181.5 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the country so far, with more than 79 million people receiving the full two doses, and over 28.3 million injected with booster shots.
