BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, July 19 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei on Sunday night (July 19) detected eight new imported Covid-19 cases, bringing the national tally of confirmed cases to 291.
All new imported cases arrived in the country from Jakarta on July 4. No close contacts were found for all cases, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in a statement yesterday.
Case 284 is a 38-year-old Indonesian woman who had a fever and lost her appetite on July 16. Case 285 is a 40-year-old Indonesian woman who did not show any signs of infection.
Case 286 is a 46-year-old Indonesian man; Case 287 is a 29-year-old Indonesian woman; and Case 288 is a 36-year-old Indonesian woman. All did not show any symptoms.
Case 289 is a 37-year-old Indonesian woman who had a fever since July 16. Case 290 is a 21-year-old Indonesian woman; and Case 291 is a 22-year-old Indonesian man. Both did not have any signs of infection.
All new cases were found positive when they were undergoing quarantine. All of their travel arrangements upon arrival and their quarantine followed the existing standard operating procedure.
With the new cases, 27 active cases receiving treatment at the National Isolation Centre in Tutong District are in stable condition.
Meanwhile, Brunei has not recorded any local transmissions for 438 days.
Some 726 individuals are undergoing mandatory self-isolation at government monitoring centres after arriving from abroad, while 22,037 have completed their stint since March 2020.
The MoH has obtained 558 samples for testing for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the past 24 hours and carried out 147,978 tests since January 2020.
In its breakdown, healthinfo.gov.bn revealed that there have been 256 cases in Brunei-Muara District, 29 in Belait District and six in Tutong District.
On the National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, 3,645 individuals had been vaccinated as of July 17.
Since the commencement of the programme in April, 18,246 senior citizens have been administered with the first dose of the vaccine.
As of July 17, 109,443 or 24.1 per cent of the population have been administered with at least one dose of vaccine, while 19,953 (4.4 per cent) have received their second dose. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
