BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) has arrested two local men believed to be involved in a robbery at a residence in Kampong Tanjong Bunut.
According to the RBPF, the robbery occurred at about 4.30am, during which the victim, a foreign national, suffered losses after the suspects allegedly fled with cash, a mobile phone and the victim’s car.
Following investigations, the first suspect was arrested on July 30, while the second suspect was apprehended on Aug 13 in an operation involving officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, Criminal Intelligence Department, Traffic Investigation and Control Department, and the Special Duties Unit of the Brunei-Muara Police District.
The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code (Chapter 22) for gang robbery.
If convicted, offenders face up to 30 years’ imprisonment and not fewer than 12 strokes of the cane.
The RBPF reaffirmed its commitment to combating crime and taking firm action against those involved in criminal activities to safeguard the country’s peace, security and public well-being.
