Brunei to take over as Asean chair next year


Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah joined other Asean leaders for the closing ceremony of the 37th Asean Summit and related summits, as well as the handing over of the Asean chairmanship to Brunei, held virtually via video conference from Baitul Mesyuarah, Istana Nurul Iman.

During the closing ceremony yesterday, Asean chairman for 2020 Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc reiterated the bloc’s strong commitment to multilateralism, dialogue, Asean centrality, and shaping an inclusive rules-based regional architecture.
