Poll: Only 5% of Thais seriously believe in ghosts

ALMOST 55% of people nationwide have never seen any shows to do with ghost communication, while 37% say these shows are a concoction, according to a poll conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration (Nida).

Nida said 1,256 people aged 15 and older were asked whether they had seen any shows featuring communication with ghosts on television or Internet channels.

Some 54.9% said they had never seen such shows, while 5.83% said they seriously believed in ghosts and had experienced encounters with them.

Meanwhile, 37.4% said they believed “slightly” in ghosts, pointing out that what they had seen were shows with down-to-earth production and scripts.

Another 33% said they neither believed in ghosts nor in communication with the dead.

Also, 72.69% of people said shows with such content should be clamped down to prevent people from being cheated by fake events.

But 21.58% said this move was unnecessary as ghosts depended on one’s personal beliefs. — The Nation/ANN
