ABOUT 4,000 chickens were burned to death when the lorry that was transporting them caught fire on the East-West Highway, Kosmo! Ahad reported.

“Only 200 of the birds could be saved,” said Jeli fire station chief Mohd Adni Ibrahim of the accident which happened when the lorry was on its way from Lumut, Perak, to Pasir Mas, Kelantan,

He said the driver and the attendant managed to jump out of the vehicle in time and called for help.

The midnight fire on Saturday was believed to have happened due to problems in the brake of the lorry. Losses were estimated at about RM80,000.

Mohd Adni said that 10 firefighters rushed to the scene.

“The cause of the fire is still under investigation,” he added.

> Singer Baby Shima, who is the lead actress in the new movie Biko, said she was prepared for feedback and criticism about her performance, BH Ahad reported.

“As an artiste, I can’t run away from criticism,” she said.

She played Sara in the romantic flick, which was the first time she had a starring role.

According to her, she accepted the movie part as she was captivated by the character of Sara, adding that it was a role unlike others that she had done before.

As for public feedback, she seemed resigned to the fact that there would always be negative talk.

“I get criticised even for feeding the cats,” she quipped.

Baby Shima, whose real name is Nor Ashima Ramli, has also recently completed the recording of a music video Bisa Bisanya Kamu.
