ISKANDAR PUTERI: The appointment of deputy state executive councillors in Johor will help with the delegation of duties and enable the state to better serve the people, says Dr Muhammad Naqib Md Ghazali.
The state education and information committee chairman said the presence of deputies would also provide more opportunities for the state leadership to meet and listen to the people.
“With these appointments, we hope to further strengthen the delivery of government services, speed up the resolution of issues and ensure that every government initiative is implemented effectively,” he said after meeting with departments under his portfolio at the Johor Talent Development Council (JTDC) on Wednesday (July 22).
Earlier on Wednesday, Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said 10 deputy state executive councillors had been appointed after receiving the consent of Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
Dr Muhammad Naqib said Onn Hafiz had also chaired their first state executive council meeting on Wednesday morning, where he conveyed a clear message on the trust and mandate given by the people.
“The Mentri Besar urged the state leadership to do our best to assist all Bangsa Johor regardless of background, race or religion,” he said.
Dr Muhammad Naqib said teamwork with agencies and department heads would also help strengthen the team and enable it to focus on the welfare of Bangsa Johor.
He said there are more than 40 state and federal agencies under his portfolio, and that the Sekolah Rintis Bangsa Johor initiative was among the key agenda.
“Education is fundamental. The foundation must be strong to prepare our children to face the challenges of the future,” he said, adding that JTDC was another major initiative requiring special attention.
On the information portfolio, Dr Muhammad Naqib said he would look at ways to collaborate with the media to disseminate information on state initiatives, including scholarships and affordable housing, to the public.
