RANAU: A family's dream of moving into a new home in time for Hari Raya was crushed when the river bank it was being built on was completely eroded by strong mudflow and falling rocks in the aftermath of the June 5 Sabah earthquake here.

After more than 20 years of living at teacher's quarters, Haili Salim and his wife, Suhini @ Suhaini Japi thought they could finally have a place of their own.
