LONDON: Many Microsoft Outlook users have been reporting outages over the past 24 hours, but the company maintains there should be a quick fix for iPhone users.
Hundreds of people have reported being unable to log into their accounts and unable to send or receive messages via the email service on Monday.
Down Detector, a service which monitors outages across the world, has shown that many people have reported continued issues on Tuesday morning.
Microsoft has said that system telemetry indicates that the service is recovering following the configuration rollback.
It has responded to frustrated users online by suggesting that impacted iOS users on iPhones need to follow the following additional steps to resolve the issue:
- Open the settings app
- Scroll down and tap on MailSelect Accounts under the Mail settings
- Tap on the email account for which you need to re-enter the password
- Tap on Account Settings or directly on the password field (depending on iOS version)
- Enter the updated or correct password
- Tap done to save the changes
- Open the Mail app to confirm that the account is syncing properly and emails are being sent and received
Many people have replied to that customer service message on X reporting that the system is still not working.
According to Google Trends, more than 200,000 users have searched for terms relating to their "hotmail login” in the last 24 hours.
The issue for iOS users is the only one currently being addressed by the company and was last updated at 7.16pm on Monday. – dpa
