Samsung has announced the release of its Galaxy Ring health tracker in Malaysia.

The company said the titanium-frame smart ring is designed to deliver real-time analysis and personalised wellness recommendations to users by leveraging on Galaxy AI.

It has three built-in sensors to monitor heart rate (optical heart rate), skin temperature (temperature sensor) and detect movement from the finger (accelerometer).

Other features include water-resistance of up to 10 ATM and IP68 rating. Battery capacity is at 19.5mAh, which the company claimed has a usage time of up to seven days on a single charge.

Users can access details from their Galaxy Ring on the Samsung Health app.

From there, users can gain insights into details such as Energy Score (daily physical and mental analysis based on sleep, activity and heart rate data), Wellness Tips (personalised insights based on daily health habits), Cycle Tracking (for women's health based on skin temperature data) and Sleep Insights (data to improve sleep quality).

The company said users can also control their paired Samsung Galaxy smartphone with the Galaxy Ring.

They can perform a double-pinch gesture with their thumb and the finger wearing the Ring to take pictures or turn off alarms.

The right fit

From now till April 30, selected Galaxy Z and S series users have the opportunity to purchase one unit of the Galaxy Ring. They have to retrieve an invitation code from the Samsung Members app.

They will then need to visit a Samsung Experience Store to try on a display ring in store to get the right fit. Alternatively, they can also purchase a sizing kit online.

A custom ring will then be crafted and delivered within an estimated six weeks.

According to its FAQ, if the ring doesn't fit well, customers cannot request for an exchange or get a refund.

"No, the Galaxy Ring is strictly no cancellation, non exchangeable and non refundable. You are advised to get a Galaxy Ring sizing kit or visit Samsung Experience Storeto ensure you order the colour/size," the company said in the FAQ.

Each Galaxy Ring comes with a transparent clamshell charging case.

Priced at RM2,099, the Galaxy Ring is available in three colours – Titanium Black, Titanium Silver and Titanium Gold – from sizes five to 14. More details are available on the Samsung website.
