Unifi Mobile tops 5G speed test in Opensignal report

PETALING JAYA: Opensignal's "Mobile Network Experience Report" ranked Unifi Mobile as having the fastest 5G download speed between August and October, averaging 290.3Mbps.

According to the report, Unifi Mobile also beat other telcos in 5G video experience, stating that users were able to stream 1080p videos with "satisfactory loading times and little stalling" on average.

In joint second place are Digi and Maxis, both achieving 5G download speeds of 276.1Mbps. U Mobile follows closely with 274.0Mbps, while Yes records 258.4Mbps.

Curiously enough, Opensignal's report ranks the Celcom brand last, with a 5G download speed of 179.3Mbps, despite it also operating under CelcomDigi.

On the flip side, Celcom came out top for coverage, scoring 8.3 points out of 10, followed by Digi (6.8 points) and Maxis (6.7 points).

U Mobile scores a 5.3 on coverage, while Unifi Mobile and Yes sit at 3.9 and 3.6, respectively.

In terms of reliability, which includes signal availability, data connectivity, task completion, and sufficiency, Maxis leads with a score of 869 out of 1,000.

It is followed by Unifi Mobile with 834 points, Digi at 831, Celcom at 807, Yes at 801, and U Mobile trailing at 714.

Other key findings include U Mobile taking the lead in 5G availability, with users spending 37.7% of the time connected to 5G, and the 5G gaming experience, which accounts for latency, packet loss, and jitter in multiplayer games.
