Bitcoin above US$20,000 for first time

Leading virtual currency bitcoin on Dec 16 traded above US$20,000 (RM81,030) for the first time following a sustained run higher in recent weeks.

Just 12 years old, bitcoin reached a record-high US$20,398.50 (RM82,644.52) before pulling back to US$20,145 (RM81,617.47), which was still an intra-day gain of nearly four percent.
