Telekom Malaysia on Aug 29 announced that the company is making its RM79 unifi Basic monthly plan accessible to everyone from September onwards.

First introduced in July, the 30Mbps broadband-only plan with a 60GB data quota was previously exclusive to those with a monthly household income of less than RM4,500.

Applicants would have to produce supporting documents like a payslip during registration to qualify for the unifi Basic plan. However from next month onwards the plan will be available to all regardless of income level.

TM acting group chief executive officer Datuk Bazlan Osman said the announcement is in line with the company’s vision to make affordable high-speed Internet a possibility for more Malaysians.

“Affordability and accessibility of quality high-speed broad services is important to TM, and we are committed to lead the charge to unlock the potential of a digitally-savvy Malaysia. As such, we are happy to announce that we are extending the unifi Basic plan to all,” he said in a press statement.
