Maxis wins roaming, network services contract from Telekom Malaysia unit

KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd has secured an award from TM Technology Services Sdn Bhd to continue providing 2G and 4G domestic roaming (DR) services and 4G multi-operator core network (MOCN) services.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group said its wholly-owned unit, Maxis Broadband Sdn Bhd, accepted the letter of award from TM Technology Services, a subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM).

Maxis said the award is a continuation of its role as TM’s incumbent provider, covering the provisioning, integration, activation, testing, optimisation and billing of the services.

“The value of the award is based on usage, rates and other agreed parameters, as stipulated in the award,” Maxis said, adding that the contract runs until Sept 30, 2029, unless extended or terminated earlier in accordance with its terms.

It said the award enabled TM to extend its coverage and provide seamless mobile connectivity nationwide by leveraging an expanded portfolio of 2G and 4G network sites in addition to its existing infrastructure.

It noted that the Employees Provident Fund is a common major shareholder of both Maxis and Telekom Malaysia.
