Samsung Pay is one of the most accepted e-wallets in the world.

Samsung Pay has integrated PayPal as one of its payment options in the United States but Samsung Malaysia states that this feature is not available here yet.

The partnership was first announced in mid-last year and it will allow PayPal to be used as one of the payment methods anywhere Samsung Pay is accepted.

When and if it arrives here Samsung Pay users will be able to load their PayPal account with a debit card or bank account linked to their PayPal wallet and start using the function. Good news is that even while paying using PayPal, consumers will still earn their Samsung Reward points.

Samsung Pay can be used at any merchant that with a point-of-sale that supports Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) and/or Near Field Communication (NFC), making it one of the most accepted e-wallets in the world.

One has to follow a few simple steps to set up their PayPal top-up card within Samsung Pay. First, they need to tap on the “+”; on their Samsung Pay home screen, then select “Add PayPal” in the “Add Payment Card” section.

If the “One Touch” feature is enabled, the account will be automatically provisioned. Otherwise, users need to key in their account credentials. Users are next required to enter a pin for in-store purchases, and select a debit card or bank to top-up the account. Once the user presses “Agree & Continue”, they are good to go.

PayPal states that it doesn’t send the users’ actual payment information to the merchants, and on top of Samsung Pay’s extensive approach to security that includes biometric authentication, tokenisation of payment credentials and Samsung’s Knox security platform, this is a safe approach to making cashless payments.
