Rime reannounced as multi-platform hopeful, Switch included

Timing question: Rime can satisfy appetites if released a few months earlier.

Making its public bow in August 2013, Rime drew immediate comparisons to both Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda and PlayStation's Ico and then-unreleased The Last Guardian.

Its introduction as a PlayStation 4 exclusive made sense given the conspicuous absence of The Last Guardian,  a trilogy closer that only recently emerged (to a very warm reception) at the close of 2016.

As intriguing as its current multi-platform status may be, equally worthy of speculation is its status as an early Nintendo Switch announcement.

Nintendo's hybrid home and portable console is due for release in March, with a Jan 13 Japanese press event imminent, and while The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is expected to be one of its tentpole launch releases, insider talk has suggested the eagerly anticipated game won't be available until June.

Perhaps Rime is similar enough to sate appetites if released a few months earlier.
