SAN FRANCISCO: Apple’s quarterly profit slumped on a widely expected drop in iPhone sales, but gains in services offered some optimism on the company’s efforts to curb dependence on its smartphone.

The company said Oct 25 that profit fell 19% to US$9bil (RM37.40bil) in the fiscal quarter ending Sept 24. Revenue fell 9% to US$46.9bil (RM194.91bil) from US$51.5bil (RM214.02bil) a year earlier.
