Without a doubt the Huawei Mate S exudes class with its slender frame, solid design and Prestige Gold colour.

The latest flagship from the Chinese tech giant also offers fun and handy gesture controls. Knuckle Sense, for instance, allows you to take a screenshot or record an audio clip by just tapping with your knuckles.

You can also launch specific functions by tracing a letter on the screen – “c” launches the camera, “m” the music player, and “w” the weather app.

“When people think about Huawei, it will usually be about networks, base stations and hardware. We want our devices to be more than just about features and specifications,” said Gary Xu, Huawei Consumer Business group country director.

“We want everyone to enjoy the finer things in life and this is the core concept of the Mate S.”

The 5.5in full HD screen, which is slightly curved on both sides for aesthetic, has better colour saturation and high contrast ratio for displaying stunning images.

The Mate S has a 13-megapixel main camera with a professional mode that allows you to adjust ISO, exposure compensation and more.

Selfie lovers will like the 8-megapixel front-facing camera as it comes with adjustable flash.

The Mate S will be available from Oct 27 for RM2,698 (inclusive of GST). The Coral Pink colour is expected to arrive just in time for Christmas.

The first 1,000 buyers will get a pair of active noise-cancelling earphones and Bespoke Pewter Membership card – made by Royal Selangor – which entitles users to instant customer service without having to queue up at its service centres.
