DON'T CYCLE AND TEXT/TALK: New York City is finally proposing a ban on smartphone use while cycling after several pedestrians were injured, two fatally, by distracted cyclists on their phones.

NEW YORK: Texting or talking on a cellphone while riding a bike would be banned under a law proposed in New York City, where two pedestrians have died in recent years after being struck by cyclists.

It is not uncommon for bike riders in the Big Apple to steer with one hand — or even with none — while snapping cellphone pictures or checking their e-mail on a tablet.
