Samsung’s new flaghship phablet, the Note 4, will go on sale on Oct  17 for RM2,499 while its smartwatch, the Gear S, will retail for RM1,099 when it arrives here in November.

“With the introduction of the Galaxy Note range, we brought the age-old culture of pen and paper into the digital world,” said Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd president Lee Dong Yong.

The Note 4 comes with an improved S pen that’s pressure sensitive. Pressing it harder while writing will give a broader stroke just like with a real pen.

“The Note 4 introduces the most refined Note experience to-date by combining all the latest technology that users expects from the Galaxy series,” Lee said.

The Note 4 has a 5.7in quad-HD display with a 1,440 x 2,560-pixel resolution at 515ppi(pixel per inch), a huge improvement from its predecessor.

Photographers will love the 16-megapixel rear camera, as it comes with Smart Optical Image Stabilisation to reduce camera shake. On the front it has a 3.7-megapixel camera that can take wide-angled selfie shots.

To keep it running all day, it comes with Ultra Power Saving mode which can extend battery life by throttling the processor and turning the screen monochrome.  The charging function has also been improved — users can get it fully powered in just 1.5 hours.

Other notable features include the a new power-efficient octa-core processor and 3GB RAM.

The Galaxy Note 4 will be available in three colours — Charcoal Black, Frost White, and Copper Gold.

The Gear S, on the other hand, is a smartwatch with a curved Super Amoled 2in display that is certified to withstand dust and water.

It has built-in 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity to help the user stay connected. You can make and receive calls, as well as message directly from the smartwatch even when you are away from your smartphone.
