Household appliance company Toshiba has opened a permanent "Smart Home" installation which monitors residents' lifestyle patterns.
Located at the brand's core social infrastructure development facility in Tokyo, Japan, the wooden, solar-powered home, which is open to visitors, comprises several of the group's home-solutions appliances and services.
Air-conditioning and lighting systems are linked to sensors, and adjusted based on its residents' movements -- tracked by image sensors -- to save energy.
Wristband sensors that monitor health and sleep conditions, syncing with and controlling home appliances accordingly, will also be on display.
Certain rooms feature Renecat, a visible-light photocatalyst with deodorant and antimicrobial qualities, whilst there is also an autonomous home vacuum cleaner to help keep things tidy.
An Ene-Farm home fuel cell system, LED lighting and an EcoCute heat pump water heater help to minimize heating and lighting costs.
