PUBLIC concern surrounding the implications of the Prism scandal — a data surveillance programme conducted by the United States’ National Security Agency (NSA) — on the Malaysian economy is an issue that needs to be addressed by local industry leaders as well as the relevant authorities, according to Mohammad Azman Abdul Rahman, chief operating officer of Aims Data Centre Sdn Bhd.

“I think a response is required… a smart way of framing it would be to address it from a consumer and business context, rather than a political standpoint. The best way to handle it proactively is to start having a dialogue between the public and private sectors,” he says.
