Microsoft says Windows 8 update coming this year

NEW YORK: Microsoft said Tuesday it has sold more than 100 million licenses for the Windows 8 operating system launched six months ago, and will release an updated version later this year.

"Windows Blue is a code name for an update that will be available later this year, building on the bold vision set forward with Windows 8 to deliver the next generation of tablets and PCs," said Windows chief marketing officer Tami Reller in a blog post.
