Halo 4’s first video documentary focuses on main character, Master Chief, a new appetite for multiplayer, and a new studio’s first original Halo game.
“We’ve focused on trying to craft these moments that live up to the legacy of the Halo experience,” says Josh Holmes, creative director.
That means “trying to make every aspect of it bigger and better,” explains 343 Industries’ Art manager, Neill Harrison.
The Microsoft studio was formed in 2007 and was involved in the creation of the Halo Waypoint community service, multiplayer maps for Halo: Reach, and the 2011 remake of Halo: Combat Evolved.
Super soldier and main character Master Chief has managed to remain mysterious throughout the series, but Halo 4 will be not only “exploring what makes him tick as a character” but also introducing “a threat that is beyond anything Master Chief has faced before.”
As for Halo’s popular multiplayer mode, arenas in Halo 4 are “not recycled from the campaign” but instead “purpose built with competitive (multiplayer) in mind,” and to that end there are peeks at new maps Wraparound and Warhouse.
No launch date for the Xbox 360 shooter so far, save for “holiday 2012,” but previous series entries have arrived mid to late September, placing it between 2K Games’ Borderlands 2 and BioShock Infinite. - Relaxnews
