Galaxy Ace 2

PETALING JAYA: Following the success of Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphone, the company has announced its latest Galaxy series phone, the Samsung Galaxy Ace.

The smartphone retains the Galaxy series’ trademark — a minimalist design in a slim and compact form factor.

The new Galaxy Ace runs on the Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system and is powered by a Qualcomm 800Mhz processor.

Like Samsung’s other Galaxy smartphones, the Ace features the TouchWiz interface.

Among the highlights on the Ace is Quicktype, which is a text input feature that allows user to form words by moving one’s finger across the keypad letter by letter.

The Android smartphone will come with a 3.5in LCD touch display (320 x 480-resolution) coupled with a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with face detection.

In addition, the camera is capable of geo-tagging photos and can record QVGA quality videos.

The Ace has 158MB of on-board storage and accepts up to 32GB microSD cards for expanded memory.

Samsung said the Galaxy Ace will be available in stores this month at a suggested retail price of RM999.
