Brocade opens regional service centre

KUALA LUMPUR: Network solutions provider Brocade Communications Systems Inc has launched a sales support and customer service centre for its South East Asian customers here.

Prior to this, Brocade’s customers were served by its seven OEM (original equipment manufacturer) partners, namely Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Dell, Oracle, Hitachi Data Systems, NetApp and EMC.

Brocade Communications Singapore Pte Ltd, enterprise business regional director of South Asia Pacific and Korea, Gerald Penaflor said that establishing a service centre here would enhance the Brocade brand’s visibility to Malaysian and regional customers.

“We want to step out of the shadows of our OEM partners. Not many people know what Brocade does, which is essentially connecting the local area network (LAN) to the storage area network (SAN),” he said.

Brocade will also introduce a networking architecture called Brocade One, that aims to simplify the job of the network administrator, who has the task of dealing with the complexity of connectivity, storage and virtualisation, the company said.

Brocade claims that it has 85% of the SAN market in South-East Asia. It would not reveal customer names but said it has clients from the telecommunications, education and government sectors.

The centre is located at The Gardens South Tower in Mid Valley City.
