More features in HP’s new large-format printers

PETALING JAYA: Hewlett-Packard (M) Sdn Bhd’s latest large-format DesignJet printer line — T1200, T770 and T620 — promises accurate printouts of drawings with very fine lines (0.02mm minimum line width), vivid images, crisp text, and more.

“These are must-haves for businesses that specialise in architecture, engineering, construction, computer-aided design and geographical information system applications,” said Jimmy Saw, business development manager of imaging and printing group at Hewlett-Packard.

He said the T1200 can help users work more efficiently with a feature called Two Online Rolls with Smart Switching. This allows users to load two rolls of paper to ensure uninterrupted printing and it saves time.

To produce better images and especially fine lines, this 44in model offers a six-ink printing system — cyan, grey, magenta, matte black, photo black and yellow.

Other features include a print resolution of up to 2,400 x 1,200dpi (dots per inch), PostScript capabilities, built-in network card (1Gigabit Ethernet) and built-in 32GB of memory.

The T770 is also a 44in printer. In basic configuration, it has 2GB built-in memory that can be upgraded to 8GB.

As for the T620, it is a 24in printer that comes with 2GB built-in memory.

Both these printers also feature the six-ink printing system, a print resolution of up to 2,400 x 1,200dpi and a built-in network card (Fast Ethernet).

The retail price for the T1200 is RM24,900 while the T770 is RM16,800. The T620 will set you back RM12,900.

During the launch, HP gave a sneak preview of its DesignJet L25500 — another large-format printer that is targeted at digital print shops, sign shops, copy shops and photo labs.

Available in 42in and 60in models, this printer uses the HP Latex printing technology to produce odourless prints that allow placement in point-of-purchase environments where odour is a concern.

With HP Latex Inks, users can print on a wide range of media, including vinyl, paper, banners, fabrics, and film.

With a print resolution of up to 1,200 x1,200dpi, the L25500 also has a six-colour printing system, but this time it is cyan, magenta, yellow, black, light cyan and light magenta.

Retail prices for the 42in version starts from RM90,000 while the 60in model is priced from RM123,000.
