THE third edition of the Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery Conference and Exhibition (AMSC 2024) is set to take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), from Sept 20-21.
This year’s theme – Uniting Global Leaders in Aesthetic Medicine, Dermatology and Surgery – promises to deliver inspiration and insights, as well as innovation and networking opportunities for aesthetic physicians, surgeons, dermatologists and other medical practitioners.
The event will kick off with a “Cadaver Dissection Hands-On Masterclass” pre-conference workshop at the Advanced Surgical Skills Centre in Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM, Kuala Lumpur, on Sept 19.
This masterclass aims to provide transformative education and hands-on experience, deepening participants’ understanding of complex facial anatomy and enhancing injection techniques.
Participants will gain knowledge of the layers and structures of the human face, with a special emphasis on clinical application and patient outcomes.
The trainers for the masterclass include plastic surgery resident Dr Konstantin Frank (Spain), maxillofacial surgeon Dr Rami Haidar (UAE), anatomist Dr Benrita Jitaree (Thailand) and plastic surgeon Dr Luciano Lanfranchi (Italy).

Aesthetic medicine business management
For those new to the aesthetic business, the non-clinical business management talk can be particularly beneficial as the session features a non-clinical track focusing on business management and how to maximise your clinic or practice’s potential by leveraging the growth of clinical personnel.
The talk will cover expansion plans, starting a career in aesthetics, strategies for effective staff training and development, patient management, consultation skills, dealing with difficult patients and setting up your first clinic.
These sessions are suited for clinic owners, investors, department heads, allied health professionals, healthcare practitioners, nurses, medical assistants, administrators, medical doctors and students.
Ultrasound workshop
To round off AMSC 2024, there will also be a post-conference ultrasound anatomy workshop at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur on Sept 22.
The workshop, led by dermatologist Dr Peter Velthuis (Netherlands), will focus on performing ultrasound-guided injections, interpreting ultrasound images on screen and identifying anatomical structures, including blood vessels, muscles and foramina. Delegates will also learn how to identify any type of filler material and enhance their professional development in cosmetic medicine. This workshop is ideal for practitioners already familiar with facial ultrasound, who are seeking to advance their knowledge and techniques.
It is also useful for cosmetic doctors, dermatologists, nurse practitioners and individuals seeking to acquire or integrate basic ultrasound skills into their practice.
All delegates attending the conference will be entitled to continuing professional development (CPD) points.
