Over 15,000 job opportunities offered by 100 employers for local jobseekers

FOR the very first time, the Human Resources Ministry – through the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) – will organise its MYFutureJobs Career Fair and the Housewives’ Social Security Scheme 2023 (SKSSR) in three states on two consecutive weekends, offering a total of nearly 15,000 job opportunities from over 100 employers.

The career fair will run simultaneously in Kuala Pilah, Negri Sembilan and in Bagan Datuk, Perak on May 27 and 28, followed by Penang on June 3 and 4 this year. The career fair is the ideal platform to match jobseekers with companies that are looking for talents to fill vacancies and help their business and operations grow.

Besides matchmaking qualified and competent employees with potential employers through open interview sessions under one roof, PERKESO will also open a career counselling counter at the fair to help candidates go through the open interview successfully. Other services that will be provided for jobseekers at the fair include resume writing, career coaching and advice on career suitability.

Up until today, 100 employers have confirmed participation in the three career fairs, with a total of 14,787 job vacancies. The vacancies available at the fairs are for various posts with some fetching a monthly salary of up to RM10,000. Among participating employers are Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Maybank Berhad, Maxis Broadband Sdn Bhd, Samsung SDI Energy Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Plus Malaysia Berhad, Public Mutual Berhad, 7-Eleven Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Genting Malaysia Berhad, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, Osram Opto Semiconductors (M) Sdn Bhd, Robert Borch Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Flextronic Technology (Penang) Sdn Bhd and many others from various sectors and industries.

In conjunction with the walk-in interviews at every fair, PERKESO is holding a promotional and informational session on the SKSSR, a protection scheme for housewives which came into effect on Dec 1, 2022.

This series of career fairs is part of PERKESO’s employment services which are implemented through the ministry’s MYFutureJobs National Employment Portal. These services include job seeker profiles, interview workshops, career counselling, employability programmes such as basic communication courses, personality and interview preparation, up to vocational courses if required.

For each state, the career fair has received support from the state’s leader or from the Human Resources Minister. The Negri Sembilan career fair will be officiated by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Haji Aminuddin Harun whereas the Perak fair will have Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to officiate the closing ceremony.

For the Penang fair, Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar will officiate the closing ceremony for the fair. This shows the strong commitment by the country’s leaders in efforts to enhance the wellbeing of Malaysians through stable jobs and social security protection.

In addition to that, the ministry has also launched the Madani Career Incentive 2023, which is part of 10 initiatives under Budget 2023 that are entrusted by the Government to the ministry through PERKESO.

This incentive encompasses “Daya Kerjaya”, which is a career empowerment programme, “Daya Kerjaya TVET”; a TVET career empowerment programme; and “Bina Kerjaya”, a career building programme. These programmes focus on increasing employment opportunities the vulnerable groups such as self-employed individuals, persons with disabilities, Orang Asli, hardcore poor, women, former prisoners as well as youth, school-leavers and TVET graduates who have been unemployed for an extended period.

Applications for all three programmes can be made from May 1 this year until Dec 31. There will also be a Madani Career Booth at each career fair to provide information on Madani Career Incentive 2023 for employers and jobseekers and assist them with applications for these incentives.
