23 students secure PIDM scholarship for tertiary education

PIDM awarded 23 students scholarships under its PIDM Undergraduate Scholarship Programme marking its 13 year.

PERBADANAN Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) awarded 23 students scholarships under its PIDM Undergraduate Scholarship Programme – marking the 13th year that PIDM has been giving out scholarships which numbers 207 in total to date.

PIDM chief executive officer Rafiz Azuan Abdullah said that PIDM remains dedicated in supporting deserving Malaysian students to pursue and complete their higher education.

“We’ve seen the difference our support has made for our scholars, who were able to chart a brighter future for themselves and their families upon completing their higher education.

The PIDM Undergraduate Scholarship Programme is a testament to our commitment in developing future talents and leaders.

“We hope that by investing in them, they can fulfil their ambition and eventually contribute to the betterment of society and the country,” said Rafiz, adding that PIDM received 690 applications for this year’s programme alone.

For one of its beneficiaries, Norazimah Binti Muhammad Rizuan from Kuala Lumpur said her family was financially impacted by the passing of her stepfather recently, and she hopes to help her single mother and reduce the family’s financial strain with the scholarship.

“My family depended a lot on my late stepfather. When he was still with us, my family was ecstatic to hear the news about the scholarship.

I strongly encourage students to apply for the scholarship, and make the most of the programme,” said Norazimah who will continue her Bachelor in Accounting at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).

Meanwhile, Aravind Supramaniam from Ipoh said he found out about the scholarship programme online and was glad that he took up his seniors’ advice to apply.

“With the scholarship, I can focus on my studies without worry and study hard to become a successful artificial intelligence engineer,” said Aravind who will be pursuing a Bachelor in Computer Science (AI) at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM).

Pursuing a Bachelor of Management degree at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Low Jun Wai was glad he was selected because the scholarship allows him to purchase textbooks and takes care of his university fees.

“I dream of becoming a successful entrepreneur.

Apart from the scholarship, the mentorship programme available can guide me during my study. If possible, I would like to do my internship with PIDM and gain all the important experience before joining the workforce,” Low said, adding that due to income instability within his household and with two sisters who are still studying, he can now take the weight off his parents’ shoulders.

Under the PIDM Undergraduate Scholarship Programme, scholars receive bond-free financial assistance that covers their education fees, cost of living, and all study-related materials.

Aside from the scholarship provided, PIDM offers mentorship opportunities from PIDM employees and scholarship programme alumni, including the option to do their internship with PIDM.
