Ethan makes waves with fourth- place finish


PETALING JAYA: Asean Para Games gold medallist Ethan Khoo (pic) provided some cheers to the Malaysian swimming team after he finished fourth in the men’s 200m freestyle S14 final at Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

Ethan just missed out on the podium, clocking 2:05.25s in the final.

England’s William Ellard, who is also the world record holder in this event, splashed to victory in a new Games record time of 1:51.66s.

Australia’s Jack Ireland took silver with 1:55.22s and Rhys Darbey of Wales secured the bronze with a time of 1:56.24s.

The 22-year-old Ethan had earlier clocked 2:05.11s in the heats.

Ethan is one of three para swimmers in Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games.

Asean Para Games gold medallist Mohd Nur Syaiful Zulkafli made the cut for the men’s S7 50m freestyle event while Abdul Halim Mohamad qualified on merit for the men’s SB9 100m breaststroke.
