4x100m quartet to get another crack at national mark


 

PETALING JAYA: The men’s 4x100m freestyle relay quartet of Khiew Hoe Yean, Arvin Shaun Singh, Ananda Lim Yin Chuen and Jayden Tan will have another chance to break the national record after advancing to the final at Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

The Malaysian quartet clocked 3:23.90s to finish third fastest in heat two but missed out on the national record of 3:20.61s set at the Vietnam SEA Games in 2023.

Malaysia placed sixth fastest overall in the heats to make the cut for the top-eight.

Australia were fastest with 3:14.53s followed by England (3:14.68s) and Canada (3:17.11s)

Cambodia SEA Games bronze medallist Jayden was 12th overall in the men’s 200m individual medley after posting 2:06.20s to finish sixth in heat three.

William Petric of Australia led the eight fastest qualifiers with 1:58.70s.

All four Malaysian swimmers will return to the pool to swim their respective individual events today. Arvin and Ananda will take part in the men’s 50m freestyle heats while Jayden and Hoe Yean will race in the men’s 400m freestyle heats.

Men’s 200m individual medley: 1. Duncan Scott (Sco) 1:58.81, 2. Evan Jones (Sco) 1:59.04, 3. Matthew Ward (Sco) 1:59.59.

4x100m freestyle: 1. Australia 3:14.53, 2. England 3:14.68, 3. Malaysia (Khiew Hoe Yean, Arvin Shaun Singh, Ananda Lim Yin Chuen, Jayden Tan) 3:23.90.
