Sanjay takes home the Niort squash title


PETALING JAYA: National squash player Sanjay Jeeva claims the Open International Niort title after defeating England’s Ben Smith in straight sets in the final in France on Saturday (Nov 15).

Third seed Sanjay secures his first Professional Squash Association (PSA) title of the year by winning 11-6, 11-9, 11-5 in just 32 minutes against seventh seed Smith at the Squash du Marais in Bessines.

World No. 67 Sanjay surprises the crowd by sending top seed and world No. 47 Patrick Rooney of England out of the tournament in the semi-finals after a gruelling 74-minute match, finishing 6-11, 13-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-8.
