Coach Ajaz commends Eain Yow’s fighting spirit despite defeat

PETALING JAYA: National squash player Ng Eain Yow left it all on the court but was just unlucky to lose in the semi-finals of the Open Squash Classic in New York.

The 27-year-old was on course to reach the Bronze-level tournament final on Wednesday, but went down fighting 7-11, 4-11, 11-7, 11-6, 4-11 to second seed Victor Crouin of France in 66 minutes at the FiDi Squash Club.

It was Crouin’s second straight win over Eain Yow in five meetings.

National coach Ajaz Azmat however, commended world No. 12 Eain Yow for his fighting spirit.

“Eain Yow played well throughout the tournament. He fought really hard, but in the final set he was unlucky and that gave Crouin the chance to take the win,” said Ajaz.

Ajaz also praised world No. 59 Yee Xin Ying despite her second-round exit after losing to Egypt’s Farida Mohamed 4-11, 6-11, 6-11.

Xin Ying’s next tournament will be the Canadian Women’s Open in Toronto later this month, and Ajaz is confident she will continue to improve.

“She performed well in New York. I’m sure with a little more time training, she will do better,” he said.
