Ng Eain Yow storms into Open Squash Classic semi-finals


PETALING JAYA: National squash player Ng Eain Yow stormed into the Open Squash Classic semi-finals in New York on Tuesday (Oct 7).

Third seed Eain Yow beat sixth seed Miguel Rodriguez of Colombia in straight games, winning 12-10, 11-9, 11-2 in 54 minutes at FiDi Squash Club.

It was his third win in five meetings with Rodriguez.

The 27-year-old, who received a first round bye, beat world No. 56 Simon Herbert of England 11-8, 11-8, 11-7 in the second round.

Eain Yow will meet either second seed Victor Crouin of France or world No. 61 Adrian Waller of England in the semi-finals.

In the women’s event, world No. 59 Yee Xin Ying’s campaign ended after a 4-11, 6-11, 6-11 loss to fourth seed Farida Mohamed on Monday (October 6).

The 21-year-old had started well by beating world No. 81 Au Yeong Wai Yhann of Singapore 11-7, 11-8, 12-10 in the first round on Sunday (October 5).
