It's heartbreak again for Rachel after losing in final of Asian Championships

Rachel Arnold

PETALING JAYA: National squash player Rachel Arnold’s hopes of becoming Asian champion were dashed after she fell to Hong Kong’s Ho Tze Lok in the women's individual final of the Asian Championships on Saturday (June 21).

Top seed Rachel was overpowered by third seed Tze Lok, who, despite Rachel’s effort to win a set, walked away with the title by winning 11-4, 10-12, 11-4, 11-0 in 36 minutes at the Sarawak Squash Centre in Kuching.

It was heartbreak for Rachel as she was poised to win the tournament after also finishing in second place at the 2021 edition. Then, she had lost to another Hong Kong player, Tong Tsz Wing in Pakistan.

The last Malaysian to win the women’s Asian title was Datuk Nicol David back in 2015.
