A slow start from Nicol as she moves into quarter-final in New York


World No. 1 Nicol David was stretched to a four-set match before winning 6-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-7 against Rachael Grinham of Australia.

PETALING JAYA: World No. 1 Nicol David survived a shaky start against Australian veteran Rachael Grinham to get her Tournament of Champions (TOC) title defence in New York under way.

On Tuesday, the 31-year-old Nicol was taken to four sets before prevailing 6-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-7 over the 37-year-old Grinham in their 41st meeting.
